Mai develops a psychic ability which allows her to see spirits, see the past and future, and to learn any warnings before it happens. Most of her abilities require her to be asleep or unconcious. When Mai learns something, e.g. in episodes 15-18 she learns of the foxfire in her sleep, she sees Naru, who strangely enough, is smiling warmly at her. When Mai is tested, she is discovered to be a latent Psychic.
