Based on the manga by Shotaro Ishinomori (Cyborg 009, Kikaider) 009-1 takes place in an alternate world where the Cold War never ended, and Earth is divided into two sides known as "West Block" and "East Block", each in a battle for political and technological supremacy. As time passes, the conflict threatens to escalate to dangerous levels.

009-1 is the codename of Mylene Hoffman, an agent working for the Double Zero Intellegence Division of West Block. Using her abilities given to her by her cybernetic body, she becomes the ultimate spy and teams with three other agents, doing whatever is necessary to complete the mission at hand. However, she ultimately gets caught in a web of rivalry, deception and political conflict.

009-1 is a spy/sci-fi anime by Shotaro Ishinomori, creator of Cyborg 009 (seeing any connection yet?). It takes place in an alternate future, where the Cold War continued to last for 140 years.

The world has been divided into 2 factions, East and West Block. The tension rises with the number of nuclear weapons. the series focuses on the missions of Mylene Hoffman, codename: 009-1. She and other agents carry out missions issued by their superiors.
