Hidden deep in the Desert plains of the Middle Eastern Kingdom of Asran lies the remote airbase known as Area 88. A base that houses a group of mercenary Jet Fighter pilots who take any job to eliminate the country's enemies.

Among their ranks is the reluctant Shin Kazama, a former airline pilot who was tricked into signing a contract with Area 88 by his former best friend. Wrecking his career and his plans to marry his fiancé, Ryoko Tsugumo. His only ways out is to serve for three years, earn $1.5 million, or risk death by trying to escape.

Visiting the base is photographer Makoto Shinju, who is there to document the activities of the Area 88 pilots.
