Taira is Beck's bassist. He's also a caring pacifist, good at keeping his band members (specifically Chiba) from killing people. His parents adopted him, but we don't know when. His biological father was a jazz guitarist, while the person he considers his father, his adoptive father, is a honest, down-to-earth mechanic.

Taira's famous among his many fans for playing at almost every gig with his shirt off, revealing a rather stunning six-pack. When Beck separated for a while, Taira was invited to become the bassist of another band, NC-17, that sold well both during and after his time there. However, when Koyuki approached him about getting Beck back together, Taira accepted immediately, giving only one condition: that all of the other original members (Ryuusuke, Chiba, and Saku) had to be back, too.

Taira works odd jobs to pay bills, one being a traffic officer.
