Character Description: Isshin Kurosaki
Ichigo's father, Ishiin Kurosaki, is a soul reaper himself, and is a captain class. That's why Ichigo has soul reaper powers.
He said in an episode that every captain class Soul Reaper should learn to control their zanpakotou's size, or else it would be very huge as the size of the zanpakotou is reflected by the spirit energy a person has. But he is hiding his Soul Reaper abilities. The reason is unknown. In one episode Uryuu Ishida's father says "Oh, so your shinigami powers have returned", which could mean that he had lost his power rather than having just been hiding them the entire time.

Yeah that is weird but I think he only does it for fun. Isshin is a nice guy and he cares for his family. For a grown man he sure does act like a kid
