Character Description: Izuru Kira
Izuru Kira is the lieutenant of the 3rd division, formerly under Gin Ichimaru. He is extremely loyal to his captain, as he defended him from his good friend Momo Hinamori's attack after the apparent murder of her captain, Sosuke Aizen. He also fights Rangiku Matsumoto for no reason other than Gin ordering it. However, he is also extremely loyal to his friends, as he calls himself a monster after drawing his sword against Momo and he was very upset when he learns that Captain Aizen stabs her.
Izuru has been good friends with both Momo Hinamori and Renji Abarai, since they met at the Soul Reaper Academy about 40 years prior to the beginning of the series. As a student, he, Momo, and Renji went to a lesson in the real world led by Shuhei Hisagi, and they were attacked by a horde of Huge Hollows. They would have all been killed, but they were saved by Captain Aizen and then-lieutenant Ichimaru.
Izuru's zanpakuto is named Wabisuke (Apologizer) and is activated by the phrase "Omote wo Agero" ("Show your face"). It bends to a hook with 2 right angles and doubles everything it hits, every time he hits it. This effect is shown in his fight with Lieutenant Matsumoto. He tells her that if her blade weighs .8 kg, after 7 hits, its weight would be increased 2 to the 7th power, making its weight 102.4 kg. His zanpakuto currently has no bankai.
