Cartoon Description: The Boondocks

Notice: The Boondocks is not Japanese Animation! It is a cartoon produced in the US. However, because it has a style that is heavily influenced by anime, I have decided to include it on this site. Also, the creator (Aaron McGruder) is admittedly a huge fan of anime and there are also subtle references in episodes to shows such as Samurai Champloo and s-CRY-ed. If you're one of those hard-core anime purists who can't stand seeing a non-anime series on a site dedicated to Japanese Animation, then just press the Back button on your web browser and pretend like you were never here.

Based on Aaron McGruder's popular and subversive comic strip, The Boondocks finally adapts the satirical misadventures of two young African American brothers named Huey and Riley Freeman. Currently living in the upscale neighborhood of Woodcrest (after moving away from Southside Chicago) with their "Granddad" Robert Freeman.

Despite their young age, the two kids share some pretty adult issues. Huey is a ten-year old black radical obsesses with spreading subversive ideas about history, politics, and society, and Riley is his younger brother, who is also obsessed with the Gangsta Rap lifestyle. The show is a biting no-holds barred satire, with commentary on life, society, culture, and race from both sides of the spectrum. It's a show that will make you think just as much as it'll make you laugh.

majority of the animation done overseas by anime studios. that qualifies it as an anime.

just because the boondocks wasnt created in japan by a japanese man doesnt mean it cant be an anime series. The boondocks is very much an anime series but just an american anime..and yes they do exsist! the boondocks show alot of anime features..especailly in season 2...like when they showed Riley blush when he got his bike stolen. Anyway..the only person who could tell you if its an anime series is the creator itself, but im sure it is. ... show more »

This may not be anime but alot of the things in it was. When huey fought with uncle Ruckus it had a reference of Fist Of The North Star. Huey is my favorite for his extremely intellectual side.

SERIOSLY MAKE SOME SENSE HERE EVEN IF IT DOES LOOK REALATED TO ANIME IT STILL ISN'T! AND NO IT DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH JAPAN! AND NO OFFENSE OR ANYTHING BUT IF I OWNED THIS PLACE I WOULD HAVE POSTED ALL ANIME AND NOTHING STUPID LIKE THIS! I'D EVEN PUT THE RIGHT AGE!

and I thought this was absolute ANIME not absolute RETARDEDNESS...

(oh yeah and what's up with the "you're not human" thing? It's RETARDED also. do me a favor and remove that feature will ya? it's annoying.)
