This is the story of the fall and rise of probably Leiji Matsumoto's most famous character: Captain Harlock. Once proud commander of the Deathshadow, he was defeated by the Ilumidus Empire, a force that would later occupy the Earth. Driven underground, Harlock finds the Voice of Free Arcadia, and he finds new friends, friends which will shape and affect his life from then on.
As well as detailing many of the events leading between his fall from grace and his new life as a pirate of justice, including his sole love interest, Arcadia of My Youth looks into Harlock's ancestry as well as pronounces a message of freedom: that one must stand up against tyranny, no matter what the cost.
