Anime Description: All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku
What do you get when you cross the brain of a cat with an android's body? In this case you get a girl named Nuku Nuku who has 9 lives and 900 horsepower. When his son's new found pet cat is mortally wounded in an accident, brillant inventor Kyuusaku Natsume saves it in the only way he knows how. He transfers it's brain into his experimental prototype android chasis and creates the big sister his son never had. Now Ryuunosuke hasn't lost a pet, but has gained a sibling and body guard, something which he'll need as he and his father are on the run from Ryuu's mother, Akiko.
Seems Akiko's grandfather owns Mishima Heavy Industries which makes, among other things, equipment for the military. Kyuu used to work for MHI, but split with his son when he learned the purpose his experimental androids were ultimately going to be put to. Now Ryuu finds himself in the middle of the mother of all custody battles as Akiko makes ample use of the military hardware she has access to along with her two assistants Arisa and Kyouko, two so-called office ladies with unorthodox training which is heavy on tactics and light on filing. As for Nuku Nuku herself, well, she's just trying to fit in and be as human as she can for having a cat's brain and a propensity to chase mice and lay in the sun.

Heh, one of my old favorites. Very entertaining even now. The first OAV is still the best though.

Ahh, Nuku Nuku. With the exception of the original Fullmetal Alchemist series, this is the best anime series of them all (well, Mahou Tsukai Tai I'd also rate equal with it). It annoys me what Asuka said which is why I'm leaving this comment. This was made in 1993. That's not old at all. That's when the internet was just getting popular for crying out loud. You want an example of impossibly irritating, antiquated anime, take a look at Kimba. That was sooooo bad but it has sooooo many positive reviews from sooooo many sentimental idiots on Amazon. This is modern anime, and anime at its best. I'll agree with you that Ouran High is pretty good though. It's on my top 25. But not my top 20 :)
A very important point about this series is that Nuku Nuku's voice is none other than Megumi Hayashibara. You may know her as the voice of Lina Inverse from Slayers (#4 on my all time favorite list, tied with Captain Tyler and Fushigi Yuugi), the female Ranma (not even on my top 50), Rei Ayanami from Evangelion (also not on my top 50), Lime from Saber Marionette (my 12th favorite), or her cameo appearance on DBZ as the blind kid Boo gave milk to (but I hope that's not how you identify her). The English dubbed version is as wishywashy as they almost always are (Ninja Nonsense is the only anime I've ever seen that improved on being English dubbed), so make ABSOLUTELY SURE you have the audio language set to Japanese because it's absolutely essential to experiencing the awesomeness of Nuku Nuku. ... show more »
