X.A.N.A. is what controls Lyoko, the supercomputer. X.A.N.A. plans to rule the world... a very common goal with villains. Oh, and kill the good guys... yet another common goal. X.A.N.A. creates various monsters including the crabs, roachsters, and Hornets.

The reason for X.A.N.A. going crazy is completely unknown. Possibly it is infected with a virus, though that's only one theory.

X.A.N.A. needs to take Aelita's memory to escape from Lyoko. His jellyfish-like monster, Scyphozoa, is the one for the job.

X.A.N.A.'s true form, if he has one, is unknown. However, this mysterious being exists within the fifth sector of Lyoko, Carthage. Protected by various monsters and other traps, it seems X.A.N.A will remain impossible to destroy unless they completely get rid of Lyoko. Since he infected Aelita with a virus which connects the two, they're in quite a pickle.

One little ability he enjoys is making clones of real people. He can also possess people with "ghosts" which appears to be black smoke. X.A.N.A. also is the one who activates towers. Aelita senses when they're activated by pulses.

X.A.N.A. is obviously the main villain. Much about him is shrouded in mystery. His symbol is the eye of X.A.N.A., which is the weak spot on all of his monsters.

Apparently, in the 2nd season finale, X.A.N.A. escapes to the real world, and is currently residing in the Internet in America. Also, X.A.N.A.'s powers seemed to have improved dramatically. He has managed to control those on Lyoko with the Scypazoa. For example, He now has control of a Lyoko warrior, William, by altering his Lyoko code. And with the Data that he stole from Aelita, he created little "Island" versions of Lyoko all over the Internet by using small super computers as terminals.
