Ide left in the start of the series since he did not trust L, but came back in the later chapters. He plays a minor role, and usually helps the task force with coordinating their efforts in the investigation.
In part two, he tells that he only came back to work with Aizawa and not with L. Ide seems to disagree a bit with L's methods, at least in the first part. Matsuda usually mocks him about having bad luck in love in season 2, but Ide claims that he just has not found the right person yet and has actually been in love with someone.

Ideis one of my favorite characters because he seems a bit outspoken but it seems that he has aintersting friendship with Matsuda as it does appear that Ide talks sense into him and it is rumored that Ide helped Matsuda recover and come back the police force.
