In matters relating to the world of the dead, there is an institution that judges the sins of the deceased: the Ministry of Hades. The Summons Section of the Judgement Bureau comprises a group supporting the Ministry's operating functions by guiding the lost souls that wander the mortal world. They are also known as the Guardians of Death (or Shinigami).
Asato Tsuzuki is a Guardian of Death; his only problem is that no one wants to work with him. When given a case involving a vampire, Hisoka Kurosaki, an unusually young Guardian with an obscure past, is tricked into working with Tsuzuki. As the two delve deeper into the case, it becomes apparent that someone else is controlling the vampire, Maria Wong. The man controlling Maria is one Kazutaka Muraki, a doctor with a twisted perspective who lets no one get in his way on his quest to find the secret of immortality.
That's not a good thing when Tsuzuki is in the way, and Dr. Muraki kidnaps Hisoka to use as bait for a trap. Things start getting ugly when Hisoka finally remembers that Dr. Muraki is the one who killed him years ago, and now both Tsuzuki and Hisoka are out for revenge.

I'm pretty sure Hisoka and Tsuzuki aren't gay, they act more like brothers, but I'm not sure about Muraki. He may just be really obsessed with Tsuzuki, and not actually in love with him. I mean, most people wouldn't try to kill the person they love.

this is odd... many people here assumed hisoka and tsuzuki are gay but i didnt see it that way. Muraki is definitely gay and is obviously the villan, often using gay sexualtiy as something to be afraid of (the card game, hisoka's "torture", etc) And hisoka definitely had a thing for the girl on the ship (princess subaki? i cannot remember lol) So i figured that the relationship between hisoka and tsuzuki was more brotherly, or even father and son, as neither one of them had a real family to rely on and didnt know what it meant to be loved by another person, i didnt think it was a homosexual relationship but i can see how some interpret it that way. i watched this and the question that bugs me is, are hisoka and tatsumi gay? I would say yes but didn't hisoka like that girl on the boat ark? Is he bisexual? It's not like hisoka and tatsumi openly said they were gay...its just a wierd relationship. But with no doubt in my mind i can say Muraki is a gay physcopath.
