Character Description: Krad
Krad is the oh-so-loveable homicidal blonde of D.N.Angel. he is the alter-ego or 'DNAngel' of Satoshi Hiwatari , and Dark Mousy's most dangerous enemy. Dark Mousy's transformation into Daisuke is the main cause for Satoshi turning into Krad. At first, Krad appears to be sane and says that Daisuke should be treated with respect, then Krad goes for Dai-kun's neck. Ouch!
Krad has been chasing Dark for centuries and will stop at nothing to kill him. Krad has a bit of a 'weird' side. He is very possesive and refuses to let let anyone get too close to his host, Satoshi. Krad affectionately calls poor Sato-kun 'My everything' and would probably kill anyone and everyone to protect him.
Krad apparently tries to win Sato-kun's affection by 'eliminating the competition'. It... well... doesn't seem to work very much. Poor Krad.
Satoshi turns into Krad when he thinks a lot about Dark Mousy.
Krad and Dark are both part of one artwork created by the Hikari's (Satoshi's original family). It was supposed to be a living artwork, but when the Niwa's (Daisuke's family) tried to steal it, the artwork split in two, creating Dark and Krad. In the last episodes of the anime, Dark seals both him and Krad back into the artwork.
On a side note, "Krad" is "Dark" spelled backwards.

Yep. It's official. I'm the only sane person on this planet. You all were somehow turned into brainless zombies who go rabid when they see an anime character. ex.: Krad, Dark, Tohru, Kagura, Kagome, InuYasha, etc., etc..

Ignore the username, please, but I am a die-hard Krad fan. The one thing I DON'T like is how he keeps hurting Satoshi. It's rather horrible. I can't stick that one aspect of his personality. I dout that they would completely reverse Dark's name, BTW, I think, by the way, that the name Krad sounds sort of like Shattering Ice. Really evil. But how his voice is done in the Japenese version! So EPIC!

Krad doesn't seem to have one. If I were to choose a last name for Krad, it would be "lightbringer" in German. All of Dark's magic incantations (as well as the Niwas') are in German. Dark refers to himself in those incantations: "Ich trage Dunkelheit und ich bin Leicht." (I carry darkness and I am light.) Krad on the other hand tells Dark "welcome to the white darkness" before the final ritual in episode 26. Krad would seem to be the one carrying light but is actually the darkness. ... show more »

Krad is mostly the negative emotional half of the "Black Wings" and as such cannot understand compassion or caring for someone else. (He believes himself to be utterly alone against the world and wants Satoshi to believe the same. In the anime, he has two good reasons for this emotional manipulation. If Satoshi agrees with his way of thinking, they won't fight over control of the body and Satoshi will let him do whatever he wants. Another bonus to be had for Krad is if Satoshi feels isolated he will lose mental strength to force Krad back inside himself leaving the "running of things" to him. If Satoshi surrenders the mental battle, Krad will take over the body permanently without mental interference. This is his goal all along, one that Satoshi blutely states prior to seizing the Wedge of Time, "Don't even pretend that you ever cared for me. You only see me as a vessel.") In the fight for the Wedge of Time sword, Krad is antagonized by the caring and sacrificial determination of his opponents (Dark, Risa, and Riku) to save one another from harm. Krad is adorable when he's mad but when he's gone cuckoo-cuckoo to kill dark, I take it back. But what's krad's last name, is it hikari, hiwatari, or ysuom? *Krad chuckles, then grabs me and lifts me into the air and flies away.* HELP!!

Lol! Can anyone imagine Krad's last name being Krad Ysuom? I had a good laugh out of that. Dark got his 'Mousy' last name probably because he sneaks around and 'steal' artworks, which he does it proudly, even having the knack to send out invitation cards to the police force saying what time and where and what he's going to steal. ... show more »
