Starved for food one day, Excel stumbled upon this stray dog and thought, "Dog = Creature = FOOD". So she picked the dog up and took her home, planning to have her for dinner, though circumstances tend to keep Excel from actually eating this poor pooch.
Menchi is continuously trying to find a new home far away from this crazy girl while Excel's continuously trying to retrieve her (because Excel's usually starving).

I remember seeing this dog singing that little song about being eaten during the end credits. A bit strange and sad at the same time.
