Interview with the Vampire

Post by MARS4 »

For those who don't know what this movie is about, it first takes place in San Fransisco, 1994(that's when the movie was made, anyway). A journalist goes to the main characters house, his name is Louis(the vampire, who is played by Brad Pitt) and the journalist wants to interview him about his life(or something like that... forgive me, it's been a little while since I saw it, and I've only watched it once) Once Louis tells him that he is a vampire, the journalist doesn't believe him. But he insists... while the man is recording their conversation on tape, Louis talks about back in time, 200 years ago, how he met Lestat(played by Tom Cruise), and became a vampire.
Kirsten Dunst also appeared in the film, as the young vampire girl(she was turned into a vampire because Louis bit her, because he was deprived of blood[or something like that] and kept drinking from rats and other animals, he was too afraid to bite a human). It was her first/once of her first movie debuts.
Antonio Banderas is also in this film, appearing as the 'legendary'(I think) vampire, Armand.

This movie is based off of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicle books. I don't know much about her books, but she has a bunch.
The movie was filmed by director Neil Jordan.

This is a pretty good movie, IMO. I don't know much about this movie, or should I say, what other people think about it, or how popular t is. It was a made a long time ago, and I didn't even hear about it until a few months ago when a friend suggested me to watch it. I want to read the books, too, so I can get a better idea of it all...

Do any of you like this movie? What things about it do you possibly not like?
I can't even remember what I like or don't like about it, lol. I'm gonna have to rent it again(to heck with it I'll just buy it, lol.)

NOTE: PLEASE correct me if I said anything wrong about this movie, such as what I described what ti was about, etc. I haven't watched it in a little while so I might have not said some things right on some parts. ^^;

I thought it was a great movie! 8)

Although it strikes me quite hard that the book is far more enjoyable. Book aside, its a dark movie and well acted. I quite admired the casting, that was definatly its strong point.

Yes, I've been told that the books are a lot more, well, I can't say "better" than the movies. They're just more detailed.
Right? lol.
How many books are there, exactly? :?

O_o wow. Dang, I'm never gonna be able to read them, then. They are big books to begin with, too. xD I like books, but I'm a slow reader at times, heh ^^;;

What was your favorite scene from the movie?

When Lestat throws a maddy and tries to kill claudia and louis, after they understandably tried to kill him. 8)

Also years later when louis and claudia are in paris and they meet the other vampires for the first time.

Actually 12 books, including the New Tales.... Although she has said that she is done writing about Lestat and the gang... IF she does one more it'll be about him finding redemtion and becoming christian or some crud like that.

My favorite part of the movie? The ending credits....

Wow, 12 books? Crazy. x_x Guess I'd better start reading, lol.

OMFG X_X When Lestat came back and tried to kill Louis and Claudia after they did... That scared the living heck out of me. I couldn't believe it(though I had a feeling it would happen xD)
And the ending credits was like "WTF!!" lol. I was like "WHERE THE HECK DID LESTAT COME FROM?!" lol.

I was browsing a website the other day, and it had a review on the movie, and their pick of a favorite scene was when Claudia cut her hair, but it kept coming back. I'd be scared too if that happened, lol.

I understand how you feel, it just struck me as a movie that could never live up to the book.

I walked out of harry potter, put it that way.

Then again, as far as movies go, it was an enjoyable one.
