annoying video game arguements

ok i couldn't think of a better title but this thread is about how people constantly use videogames as the root of all evil (you know what i mean)

i have been looking up and down for info on this topic but i can't find any. it really gets me upset to see that perents would jump up and say things like: "video games train our children to be killers!" or "videogames will give my kids bad habits." or "children who play games have no future" (thank god my perents are not like that)

good lord i GREW UP PLAYING GAMES THAT INVOLE MESS KILLING. and guess what? i was at the TOP og my class (altho i suck at spelling)

i think perents should stop trying to play the blame game and except the fact that they didn't raise their child well. here is an example of a situation.
a mom is in a store with her child. the child sees something he wants and asks for it the perent says no the child gets mad throws a tantrum and ends up trowing stuff on the ground to sttop him the perent gets the think e wants.... THAT'S WRONG if i did that with my perents i would get spankings on the spot!

i heard there was a lawyer that atempted to supress videogames. if anyone has info on this please tell me.
what are your thoghts on this subject.

on another note whats your opinon when it comes to sex in games should they be allowed?

I agree with you. Parents just want a way out so they don't have to accept their own fate. They make their kids what they are and don't want to take responsibility for what they made. I don't know anything about the Lawyer. I think sex in games is fine, as long as it's subtle. Example: Don't show woman getting clothes ripped off. Just show them kissing and what not, then black out to the next day or so when something happens that goes along with the story.

Another thing about people blaming video games. They wouldn't have to worry about anything if the parents didn't buy games rated "M" for pre-teens and such if the child doesn't understand the differnece between real and fake.

and actually people actually pull out there killing rage fanatisies in games. it is those weird ass people who want to see that in real life... but it will be hard for them to even pull the trigger, if they have Moral Values.

while growing up my perents smashed in my head GAMES ARE FAKE. DO NOT TRY IN LIFE!!! i was playing games from i was lik 5 altho back then games were not THAT violent the fact that my mom and dad made it their bussness to rub in the fact that games are not real meant that when those violent games came up i always knew better. i'm 19 now and about to turn 20 my perents STILL rub that fact in altho not as often as they used to.
now i HAVE heard of fools who rans from the police and when they were asked ywhy they ran away they answered "cos they were so good at GTA they thoght they could get away" when i saw that story i knew that would cos some kind of uproar sure enuf it did i watched it on one of those tvs in the airport only thing i could hear was "you see there those games need to be banded PERIOD."

i want to point out how perent aren't making a peep about r, MA, or even X rated movies so why bash on games?


on another note i thins sex in games would be ok as long as they are sold in adult stores.

What people need to relize is that vidio games are not real, they're just pixles on a screen. And if anything is to blame for overexposing kids to violence then it is definitly todays movies

exactly. a game is much like a playable book. heck i found that games have increased my imagination, and better story writing skill.

IMO, games lately have been like playable movies, with deep stories. My parents still think videogames simply aren't at all beneficial or worthwhile, yet when they see me play FF, they're all like "What kind of game is this with its odd story?"

i also want to ponit out that people who are against games are really truely against one or two games namely GTA. they take one good look at GTA and WHAM they program their brains to write games down as somthing that should never be made. it's just like how some people think anime is porn. my friend's mom got him an anime dvd cos she knew hr love anime. he was all excited (he was unaware it was porn) he poped it in with his mom right there. a few seconds into the start of the anime (hentai) an adult scene comes on and boy did his mom flip. saying "so this is why you like this garbage so much" i didn't see him for a week. it took him that long to get his mom to see the truth. the ponit is she judged ALL anime from that one she saw.

now i'd like to ponit out that if you look at games in a certain way they can treach you about morals and history.

as someone here already posted games (most notably RPGS) are parcatly movies (think about xenosaga).

now lets move on to the next question (not that i want to contadict my belief that if a kid is raise right he/ she will most likly not go wrong) if you see a game with the big MA on it why get it for a kid?

it was bible black i think. i never really saw the title my back was turned when he started the dvd. when i started to watch it with everyone else i only saw a purple haired chick making out with a blue haired one. i'm only guessing that's what it is from a few pics i saw on line

*sighs* well it figure that annoying lawer would reappear at some point, the sad fact is the law was passed that now kids need an ID to buy 'violent' video games despite the fact that we could consider ALL games but racing, badminton, tennis, and basketball can be considered VIOLENT. In my opinion anyone who ays "the video games made me do it" deserves to be shot point blank in all 7 chakras no expections. This stupitity MUST end and if we parents REALLY didn'twant thier kids doing this then here's a few tips you useless bums who refuse to take responiblity for your actions, in this case not rasing your children correctly, 1)don't buy a game for a 7 year old if it says E10+ T, or M it's just Fing stupid. 2) Wire your children to KNOW videogames aren't real, and finally 3) tell your cihldren if they EVER blame a game fort thier actions you will shoot them in the leg and move up the body every time harsh, yes effictive, also yes.
Now onto an actual event I know I must ride the bus cause i live like 2 hours walking distance from my school and on my way home what do I hear but an 8 year old child talking about GTA if and I swear if I ever meet thier mother/father I will sock them. Yeah this goes back to my, 'Parents need to learn that the big letters on video-game cases AREN'T decrotations' rant. No 8 year old should be playing GTA EVER. Unfortantly this is the result of the CYA era parents wanting to blame something like video-games which are constantly being attacked instead of thier own inteptiude as a parent. While I'm attacking this whole era I thnk I might as well say this kids aren't trained to kill by games thye are trained in paranoria and fear which then lead to killing by the media. Come on look at the news tonight and tell me what you see but first let me guess, death, death, detah, death, natural disater resulting IN you guessed it death and ending with a 3 minute segement on sports and wheather.
