Need help on learning Japanese!

As much as the attempt to research out on your own should be praised, I'd have to disagree with the use of babelfish. It can be accurate, and then there's the not.

Japanese don't really say the whole sentence neither. They cut corners (you know who ya are, whom that has said it, heh) to make things shorter:

Sakura: nintai, Naruto! Sugi ni Kakashi-sensei ga kimasu yo!

Well...I gave it a shot...a horrible one, might I add. I also tried to use the rude formats that fit each character as much as possible from what I can remember. Sakura usually uses a more politer speech with Sasuke being of a more insult-type and Naruto being the wild one.

I was iffy on the "sumani" word. There's another translation that's similiar to the "sumani" that equals to "sorry", but I can't remember. Maybe someone'll correct me on it.

I had a feeling that an "n" needed to be put somewhere in that translation on the "late" part, but I wasn't too sure. My memory from watching the subs of Naruto didn't recall very much (aside from usual personality and behaviors of the characters), especially if it's been a full year since then.

I had to look in my Random House dictionary and some personal links I keep on the computer for further reassurance on some chosen words, especially the slang phrase I used. I didn't have my glasses on though when I skimmed the dictionary, so I probably read the print wrong.

I'm not too confident when I translate because I lack the motivation to better myself. I'm just lazy like that, so I make a lot of careless mistakes. I can't really afford that now since I'm 4th level in high school and my teacher's going to expect a lot from me.

I've been meaning to ask...what exactly is this?: あ"

I usually see it in mangas, but couldn't quite figure just what it really is pointing to.
