anyone got a guess why he is the only one in soul society who is like this and also what doy ou think of him as a character

i like him, what we see of his bankai is awesome, he's really loyal (thats always a big plus to me) has a strong sense of justice (also a huge plus to me) and i have no clue as to why he's the only one like that, it probibly has to do with japaneese mythos. which i dont know much about.

maybe he was like Yourichi, like he could transform but then forgot how to change back. Or maybe when he was transformed someone put a curse on him so he could never change back.
