They're an emo band, not punk.

Locke, Emo is a derivative OF hard-core punk. do your homework, p*ss off, and let us fans celebrate their work, got it?

Firsty, Emo is VERY different from Punk. So calling The Used a punk band is very misleading.
Secondly, insult me again and you will be severely punished.
Thirdly, don't order other users around. Any user is free to post in any thread. Don't try to intimidate people into not giving their opinions and taking part in a thread just because you can't hack it.
There's no need to cry kid.

*sigh* locke locke locke.... open yer eyes pal. this is from wikipedia.
Emo is a subgenre of hardcore punk music. Use of the term (and which musicians should be so classified) has been the subject of much debate.
^ a derivitiv of hard core punk. and they ARE a punk band. just cuz you dont like em doesnt mean theyr emo. ¬¬ christ alive, you call EVERYTHING emo. someone voices an opinion, they're emo. they hate something about they're life, they're emo. i take emo as a great compliment, because it shows that i have, and can express, my feelings. now, unless your wanting to join the FAN (not bashing) club, i ask politley, that you leave.

Excuse me. All I said is that the Used is an emo band. Am I wrong? Did I insult "emo" in any way? Emo is a genre of music. The Used fit into that genre. If emo is a derivative of punk that doesn't make The Used a hardcore punk band. They're an emo band, and the emo genre stemmed from punk. Whats your gripe with that? I'm completely right and I haven't said anything offensive. So, don't insult me. Stop being immature.

...ug... it's amazin' how much you bicker Rikoku...
Still, The Used is EMO and most poeple I talk to don't classify EMO as Punk... or they classify it as EMO/Punk thingy... So it is Punk, but not quiet... Then again... Punk has a many faces... I looked it up on "Urban Dictionary.com" That place is alot nicer then "Dictionary.com", it's alot more persice... not always nice but persice. It said that EMO is a form of Soft-Punk... so technically, Locke is right. It's not Hardcore Punk, but you are still right that it is a subgenra of punk, but you had the wrong form.
Aisde form that, I like The Used too. Thanks to "thegodofdeath" for showin' it to me ^^ I have a poster and a CD... I wanted the self titled one, but out of three music stores in the mall... everyone was sold out... ug...

Precisely.
Like I said, whether or not emo is a sub-genre of punk, that doesn't make emo not emo.
VICTORY!

re: The Used Fan Club
Screamin' doesn't really make you comepletely hardcore... it puts you half way... you need lyrics to back it up... Punk is suposserd to eb about change and how shotty a goveremnt is and how you really jsut don't care what poeple think of you. Emo on the other hand is to talka bout feelin's, of any kind toward a person or livin' thin'... Like to say your pet died or your signifacan't other left you... that'd be emo. So they are an emo-punk band... got the punk sound.. but not the punk lyrics ^^ But taht's jsut imho...
Still... The Used kick butt! ^^
