My fav guitarists at the moment are:
Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman from
Megadeth.
Adrian Smith, Dave Muray and Yanick Gers form
Iron Maiden.
Mike McCreedy from
Pearl Jam.
David Gilmour from
Pink Floyd.

He's a [censored] awesome guitarist. He plays in Audioslave now but his stuff in RATM was a lot better. THOUGH, I must say, the most eargasmic thing I've ever seen him do was an improvised solo in a live version of Shadow on the Sun which is an Audioslave song.

Eddie Van Halen is a King of Eargasmic improv.
Kirk Hammet is a good improvisor from what I've heard too. - Metallica
Alexi Lahio of Children of Bodom is also heaps good at improvising.

Billie Joe doesn't even play guitar. he just does the easy rythym or pretends to play, and they have a studio guitarist to play for them. lol
