Most overrated anime

What series do you consider overrated and WHY?

For me:

Bobobobobobobo-this series doesn't deserve any respect at all

FLCL-stupid, random, and pointless

FMA-ok, I like it but I don't see why so many people worship it like it the greatest thing ever. It has great characters and it's funny at times. Overall, I say it's good but not great.

Evangelion-I'm still watching it but I've seen most of it. I don't see what's so great about this anime. It doesn't get anywhere near its reputation at all. IMO, it's not that great.

Gundam Wing-I like GW too but the characters needed some work. "Heero was psycho and had issues, Wufei was arrogant and irritating, and Trowa and Quatre equal yaoi." I don't see why so many people adore it as the best gundam series. Seed completely blows it out of the water, IMO.

Miyazaki's work-*waits to be attacked by rabid Miyazaki fans* I've only seen Princess Mononoke and a bit of Spirited Away but I don't see what the big deal is. I don't see why people worship Miyazaki's work like it's the greatest thing ever. IMO, his work is just mediocre or perhaps it's that his work isn't in my particular area of interest.

One Piece-The characters are annoying. Zoro can't fight unless he has three swords which is pathetic, Usop isn't funny, he's annoying and won't STFU, Luffy....I dunno I just get annoyed even seeing his face, and it's really sad how just about everyone relies on some cursed fruit to give them power instead of achieving it naturally. Overall, the story seems too childish for me and it's just plain boring.

Cowboy Bebop-I've seen a little of the series and the movie though from what I have seen there's nothing special about it.

MKR a bit good, but its more of the girl things than boy things.. the first time i saw it i thought evry girl there is a tomboy... atleast i saw emeraude and yeh.. i thought "shes a girl".

Shaman King i think this anime shrank in height, i mean height... the characters are too small to be teenagers for me, anna doesnt even have "boobs" at all, i just like the fighting in it, over all action is great. and the oh-so-hail-spirit-thingie.. doesnt match with the fighting.

Inuyasha ~ For me this is totally annoying. I liked it at first, I thought it was pretty good, until I started to watch other animes outside of the Adult Swim. I learned that there were ones that blew this out of the water, I mean the series was okay but it just got repetitive. Nothing really interesting happened after a while and it just lost my attention.

lol and u proved how unknowing u are by calling cowboy bebop nothing special? u dont have to like bebop but it is an inovatie show with awesome art and stories...ur probly one of these people who start watching from the middle of the seris right? and u have no clue whats going on?

I disagre wholeheartedly about One Piece. I cannot see how you came to that conclusion, unless you watched that hacked up TV Broadcast version. Zoro has shown to be effective with only a single sword, as shown in the arc right after his swords are destroyed (I no longer remember the name of the particular section). If you were watching the TV broadcast, I would assume that you didn't see this part, as I believe 4kids ommitted this arc, as the amount of blood and graphic violence was rather high. I agree in that the overall story is quite simplistic, but the various subplots and mini arcs are very intricate, dealing with emotions and themes.
The Arlong Arc in particular is quite complex and moving, showing Nami's self sacrifice and devotion, as she endures hardships and experiences betrayals.
Through her eyes, one sees the horrors and demons that she had to face, both as a child and as an adult. At one point, her situation becomes so dire that in a fit of hysterics, she stabs herself repeatedly with a knife. I find nothing childish about that at all. Indeed, it was that particular story arc that sealed my love for One Piece.

As for an anime I consider overrated, I am appalled that Gundam Wing is one of the most popular Gundam animes in the United States. It simply takes elements from various previous Gundam animes, and mashes them together (and not particularly well, I might add.)

I never said that I hated Cowboy Bebop I only said I don't see what's so amazing about it. I'll admit, it's great but it doesn't live up to its reputation in my eyes.

As for Evangelion, I haven't finished it yet but I don't see why there is so much excitement over it.

I have already seen all of FMA and Gundam Wing so it is unlikely my thoughts will change about these two.

Finally, I never stated that my opinions aren't subject to change. This is just what I think about these particular animes right now. So yes there is a definite possiblity that my opinions might change.

I'll only rate series that I've actually seen, so I'd say Trigun (in English). I bought the DVD collection because I thought it was going to be a great series after all the hype and then I found it to be absolutely terrible. The music with rare exception is mediocre in general and the ending theme is like running a sharp object across a chalkboard. The animation with exception to Vash, Knives, and Legato was totally dull or lame; this is notably emphasized by the power plant being a giant light bulb and the really ugly enemies. The storyline's abrupt ending with nothing having been accomplished also leaves a sour taste in one's mouth and Vash's unwavering moral highground is just annoying; I kept thinking, "Shoot the murderer already!". About the only thing I liked about this series were the appearances of the three mentioned characters and that one episode where they're chanting "Love and Peace!"

I haven't gotten around to rewatching it in Japanese yet. Maybe it's much better in its language of origin like Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, MS Gundam SEED, and Naruto; series that are well-dubbed like Outlaw Star and Witch Hunter Robin seem rather uncommon, unfortunately.

i think DBZ AND DBGT was over rated cos you can sum up the series like this
1. someone tells heros of a great evil coming
2. heros prepere for the great eveil
3. great evil appears
4. great evil kills some frineds of the hero
5. hero gets mad and makes a corny speech about justice
6. hero transforms and kinda beats the great evil
7. great evil gets cocky and transforms
8. great evil almost beats the crap out the hero
9. hero beats the great evil BEARLY
10. hero gets dragonballs and wishes his dead friend back

there in a since i just spoiled the ENTIRE seires for you guys.
