Ya, I'm with Ender on this one... I don't know what kind of emo you've heard. Not all emo bands sing about how their girlfriends dump them... And most of the people in emo bands aren't even teenagers... The people in the Postal Service are in their 30's. And about them being untalented... That's crap because some of the most complicated and insane guitar riffs I've ever learned (or tried ) are from emo bands. Most rock bands today rely on just power chords to get by, but the majority of emo bands have raw talent. If you go to like a Blink 182 show, they totally suck (I know, I've been to one) but then when I saw Modest Mouse, it sounded like what was on the cd. So ya, they're not totally stupid like you think.

Ok, Boy bands suck too. and no, Emo people aren't that good of musicians, they just know basic power chordes, and they work off from there. It's usually the drummer that appeals to me in "Emo".

I haven't really heard Modest Mouse, but I don't think they are Emo, because I sort of heard them... on a commercial. Anyway, I don't care. It's all a matter of opinion. People can be attracted to simple power chordes and screaming. Who am I to judge?

I haven't heard many good emo bands that use basic power chords so maybe you've just heard some crappy processed stuff. Ya, Modest Mouse is emo, listen to their lyrics... You just said it's a matter of opinion but why blast people for an opinion that's different from yours? Seems a tad hypocritical to me...
