BREAKING NEWS: Square announces FFXIII and more FF info

At Square-Enix's pre-E3 conference, Square announced several titles from Final Fantasy. Before I begin, just know that this information will only make you more excited for the Final Fantasy series than ever before.

Even though we thought we'd be having FFXII before FFXIII was even announced; we are wrong. Though FFXII has been given a guranteed release date of October 2006, FFXIII has been announced, in the most peculiar of ways aswell.

Surprisngly, there will be THREE titles bearing the name FFXIII; they are:


Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3)
Final Fantasy XIII Agito (Mobile Phone)

The theme of the game is Fabula Nova Crystallis, translated from latin to english as The New Tale of the Crystal. Unlike previous games in the series, FFXIII will encompass its theme and story in several games across various platforms. Each game, though bearing the same "XIII" will be different in setting and characters, yet the central story and mythos is among the three; essentially, the story of new crystals is spread through several games and told in different ways. The setting is futuristic and quite flashy.

Nothing further has been announced as far as a release date or anything else. Below is a link from which I got my news and there are screens of the various FFXIII projects.

Ok? Thats good stuff but tell me something that I dont know. I just know I want to Play FF12 but Square had to be a tease and release it in October.. At Least There will be no more delays.

wait, arent you at all excited for these FFXIII titles?! i mean, sure, i REALLY want FFXII, but to see these only make more impatient! i just want a FF game! now! grr, all these games look so damn cool!

from what i've seen of 12, it does look really crap (this is imo) but, looks are deceptive. i'll play it, but only because its Square-Enix, and have only made one really poor game. (and, again, its imo) and thats FF10-2 hopefully, 13 will be awesome ^_^

FFs suck, and have sucked for a while now. It's just a cash cow waiting to be milked dry, especially 7.

WTF? You obviously never seen the cut scenes, 12 has a different art style from 10 and the graphics are not that good but its not a next gen console game man... Its on the ps2 but you should know that lol, also its going to be on the x-box from what ive heard. You should never diss a final Fantasy game without trying it.

i own FF10-2, i've come close to completing it before my PS2 broke. i just remember thinking "...i prefer 10." the only good thing 10-2 had going for it was the level up system. i rate it as my third suckiest FF i've ever played. 1st being 9, and second being 5

yea. see, many ppl thot the charas were too simple, but i found them to be memorable and complex.

another point id like to raise regarding Square: IMO, Square has made a rather risky move with debuting FFXIII b4 FFXII is even out in the US. many ppl are far too concerned and excited with FFXIII and are SICK AND TIRED of waiting for FFXII. i know i am. and im sure the wait will be worth it. but Square needs to be a little more consistent. i understand they handle many projects and work alot, but they need to deliver faster, and focus less on the games they know wont do as well.
