Need as much of this Translated as Possible

It's not nearly as complex as English, but as usual we find ways to screw it up.

Need as much of this Translated as Possible

Postby Yami Haga-Ryuzaki » Jul 07, 2006 3:37pm

On Quizilla I've been uploading One Piece Songs and giving people the Romanji and the Translated version.
Sadly though - My Favourite Song 'Friends' doesn't have a Translated version yet.
I just want to get as many words as possible done so I might be able to fill in the gaps. I'm not in the posistion to be downloading translators - especially after Dad found me downloading all these One Piece Songs and Manga Volumes - so I need a bit of help on this one.

Any help is appreciated! Here's the song,

Asahi ga nobotte, tsuki ga kieru made
Hanashitetai yo FRIENDS
Warattetai yo, zutto

Buyuuden nara happyaku aru ze!
Dore o tottemo issen boruto
Shibireru otoko, Captain Usopp!
Damatte ore ni tsuiteki na

Sugee! Maji de sugee!
Motto kikasete tsuyoi hanashi
Sugee! Sara ni sonkei!
Ore mo hayaku rippa ni naritai

Minna ga nechatte yoru ga warau made
Tanoshimitai yo FRIENDS
Deatta imi wa, kitto...

Ore no buka nara hassen nin sa
Dakedo hitori de tatakatta no sa
Tayoreru otoko, Captain Usopp!
Nan tatte ore wa umi no senshi

Uwa! Mecha kakkoii!
Motto oshiete tsuyoi kokoro
Uwa! Honto sonkei!
Hokori takaki umi no senshi da

Hoshi to hoshi o musunde, seiza ga dekiru

Atarashii tomodachi tsunagaru mitai

ALL THE WORLD

Asahi ga nobotte, tsuki ga kieru made
Hanashitetai yo FRIENDS
Warattetai yo, zutto
Tomodachi da ne tte, daremo tashikamenai
Ii kanji da yo FRIENDS
Mata asu no hi mo, kitto,
Kitto, kitto, kitto...
I wish to the starry sky, I pray to the Earth
and swear to a love that will not fade.

Gah! Roomaji! No!!

Ergg...well, I'll try, but no guarantee that it's going to be right or even close to accurate. I'm already running into some problems with a few words that I skimmed over in here, so I'm going to try to find similiar ones that I do know.

Despite how some people say that translating songs is easy, to me, I struggle...I'll come back and edit this when I'm done with what I can.

Nevermind. I'll just stick with posting a new one for the indication that I have replied and that you don't have to check back in every so often for my editation.

WARNING: BRACE YOURSELF

The morning sun is climbing, until the moon vanishes
Friends want the talking
The want of smiling, always

[*] to be a martial story(??)
Which are awfully one thousand bolts
The numb man, Captain Usopp!
Silencing* follows by me

Awesome! [something with "cool/awesome"]
Singing more for mighty story
Awesome! Honor for the plate!
I also want money for the rapidly fine (fudged up this one for sure)

Until the night gets bad, everyone sleep (? I don’t know this “nechatte” thing)
Friends want to have fun
Encountering significance, without a doubt

If eternity is my subordinate
But battling alone?
The reliance man, Captain Usopp!
What I am is the soldier of the sea

Whoa! Extremely cool! (Kansai dialect?)
Further teaching the strong will
Whoa! Real honor!
Proud soldier of the sea

Tying the stars with stars, will able the constellation

New friends want to watch the connection

ALL THE WORLD

The morning sun is climbing, until the moon vanishes
Friends want the talking
The want of smiling, always
Again friends, everyone doesn’t need confirmation
The good feeling friends
And with tomorrow’s sun, without a doubt
Without a doubt, without a doubt, without a doubt...

. . . .*hits head with a metal bat* argh! That was horrible!!

Okay, few things as some form of last input before I go beat myself up again:

kitto = actually means "undoubtedly" but I thought "without a doubt" would sound a bit better. But I could've used "without fail" also.
buyuuden = I have absolutely no clue as to what it meant. "Martial story" doesn't sound remotely the right thing to me.
damatte = either you meant "ganbatte" as in "trying one's best" (I think that's wrong though), or "damatte" as in "to be the silencing" of some sort.
maji = no idea

"ore no buka nara hassen nin sa" (first line in the 5th paragraph) didn't really make much sense to me, or will it probably be to anyone with my tranlsation. There's no "hassen nin" I could find, but you were probably referring to "hassenen" which meant "thousands of years" or "eternity" in a sense.

I have more stuffs to say, I'm sure, but basically, I'll just say this since I'm doing enough confusion as it is: it was a horrendously horrible rough translation by me that makes you want to gouge your eyes out. Honestly, roomaji is really evil. And what was worse, I think the lyrics used passive things (-rareu stuff) and I never did good on those.

So...there you go. A butchered translated version of your favorite song. :| :? :x ](*,) ](*,)

Side Note: this was my fully first song translation...yes, now would be a good time to scream.

I didn't really get how people could literally hate roomaji, but now I know...from the hard way. I probably made a lot of simple mistakes because I was getting rather stressed at trying to stretch my brain over all the possibilities and words that didn't really mesh.

I owe you one too for finding the Lite Text Gloss for the kanji stuffs because that one helped me a lot instead of playing more guessing games with my Random House dictionary and roomaji translations online.

To Rosemary-sama: those words you listed are synonyms if you look at it. "Without a doubt" or "undoubtedly" means you are sure or certain of something. "Zutto" is most commonly translated to "always", but you probably were thinking of "zettai" which is "definately" or "absolutely".

Oh my god - That sounds way less cornier in Japanese!

I love you so much <333 Thanks a million! (Don't worry - I'll credit to ya - unless you want this to go nameless)

Well the Romanji isn't mine; just no sites supply the English version - I guess it's because the Romanji's screwed so much you can't get the proper english ^^;;

But thank you so much! This means a lot to a low quality writer like moi.

Well, it's not really the roomaji that's the problem. It's just that one word could mean a whole crap load things. If it was in proper kana forms, it would make a world of difference.

Still, not every computer is equipped with IME Pad/foreign languages or does everyone know what roomaji is, nor do people who know the language want to actually slave over some things like this, as well as dozens of other factors.

My translation is a complete eye sore to me though aside from it not making that much sense to me (ie: honor for the plate) but that's probably my fault due to my lack of focus for the TV.

In any case, you're welcome. Although I seriously regret not translating it fully and leaving numerous gapes around the song, so sorry. And you do what you wish. I don't mind either way. Plus, I highly doubt your a low quality writer.

Hello happy guys!

I just wonder about this learning-Japanese-thing; am I right if guessing that it's awfully hard to learn? Two alphabets (Go! my grammar...) and in addition around 5000 characters in kanji, 2000 regulary used in a daily newpaper, and who-knows :D how many words which meaning depends to the coherence... I read a number of how many meanings "ki" can have, and I really felt dizzy...

Anyway, to learn Japanese are considered hard to do, but please tell me that it isn't all impossible..? If I start now, I can at least learn some easy things before I die (if I'm not going to die young, we hope)?
And where to start? Learning the alphabets, which character to which sound, then start to learn words?

Thanks! :D

Well. Not really. the difficulty of learning hiragana and katakana (respectable names of the 'two alphabets') is small. Of course, kanji is more difficult to learn, although it's still pretty easy (writing kanji and learning stokes, however, is EXTREMELY hard for people learning japanese without direction, like me :D). But otherwise, I believe Hiragana and Katakana are pretty simple. In fact, I'll show you something that I noticed:
---------
か = ka (Hiragana)
が - ga (Hiragana)

now, the similarities of the two kana are VERY perceptible. Now this is the way I think of it. 'Ka' is a more stressed version of 'Ga'. And you see the only difference between to two kana is a little " in the top right of the kana on Ga.
So the way I looked at it, the " shows a more relaxed sound. (T would be D | S would be Z)

One small exception though.
は = ha
ば = ba (of course) -- and
ぱ = pa

This is the only exception, and the P sound is the only kana that has an o in the top right. Anywayz, that's about it. Just remember the " and ur set 4 lyf

Out of curiosity, I looked all over the place for Japanese text for the song but couldn't find it.

I'm just replying so I can help you out with your Japanese, Ryu.

Hanashite'tai = want to talk/chat - just a direct translation, it's not necessary to write "want the talking". Same with "waratte'tai".

It's like:
「もう少しいて話していたい」 = "I'd love to stay and chat" uses "hanashite itai" (shortened to 'tai).

>>This part:
Buyuuden nara happyaku aru ze!
Dore o tottemo issen boruto
Shibireru otoko, Captain Usopp!
Damatte ore ni tsuiteki na

武勇伝 buyuuden = saga, (epic/heroic) story
八百 happyaku = 800, but pairs off with other words in the connotation of: lies, load of B.S., fantasy, game, and even green grocer. So the line is probably something like:

"If it's a heroic story, it'll have (a lot of) B.S./made up stuff!"

So then:

"On every count, 1,000 volts
Numbs that man, Captain Usopp!"

どれをとっても = "on every count"

Yeah, the last line has got me. It's so close to being: "Shut up and keep up with me", but I don't think the grammar could work for that. Then I was trying to break apart "tsui" and the "-teki na" ending, but that sounds strange.

>Next verse:
Sugee! Maji de sugee!
Motto kikasete tsuyoi hanashi
Sugee! Sara ni sonkei!
Ore mo hayaku rippa ni naritai

"Cool! Seriously cool!" まじで = "for real", etc.

I think "kikaseru" would be used as "read", not "sing" here, because it's talking about a story.

"Cool! And likewise respect!" さらに has a bunch of different readings. Too many to list, really, but it's a pretty versatile phrase.

"And soon I want to be like him"
りっぱ = used in terms of goodness, admiration, so on.

>Onward:
Minna ga nechatte yoru ga warau made

"Everyone falls asleep until the night laughs"
寝ちゃって - "Nechatte" comes from "nete shimau"; the -te shimau ending gets contracted to -chau, and then from there, the verb is conjugated.

-te shimau can be used to "finish" something, but it can also convey something that unexpectedly happens, or was a hard decision to make. So I bet here it means that they accidentally fell asleep.

And it's "warau", not "warui" =)

>Let's skip to:
Uwa! Mecha kakkoii!

めちゃかっこいい is standard dialect.

>Hoshi to hoshi o musunde, seiza ga dekiru
More like, "Connecting star [and/to] star, a constellation can be made"

>Atarashii tomodachi tsunagaru mitai
This could also mean "Apparently connecting new friends" (like the stars)
みたい can take the place of ようだ or そうだ.

=D

XD

Thanks a lot. When I first started out, it wasn't too bad but the roomaji was grating on my nerves, so I lost it, like...the 2nd line of the song. :|

I did mention it was butchered

Ah, I didn't correct your translation to make you feel worse. Like I said, I did it to help you. I think a lot of patterns and words were used that you didn't understand, and maybe I cleared some of it up.
