Share your con experiences and suggestions, everything from hotel costs, plans, which cons to go to for what, etc. I've been to three so far
Sakura-con Seattle WA (Early April and Late March)
This con is a good size, the biggest in the Northwest of the U.S.A This con always has the best musical artist, I've met angela, hiro, and m.o.v.e I'm gonna this year. Everyone at this con is really nice, you can pick up conversation with just about anyone, even those with their noses in the air. The convention center itself is still the prettiest I've seen, a very nice atmosphere. And costs aren't too high. I you are looking for a cheaper and slightly smaller con to go to, this is a good pick!
Anime Expo L.A. CA area (Late June and Early July)
This is the con of all anime cons. I believe the number of people who went last year was 50,000, it was INSANE. Some tips I have, arrive a day early to pick up your badge, my friends only had to wait 1 hour, but I had to wait 6 on the day of, it was a total waist of con time. I also suggest booking a hotel early, I just booked like the last room available even romotely close to the center. This is the best con if you like a lot of people and a lot of cosplay crazy people. You will see the best and coolest cosplay here, it's pretty much all people do there, talk, cosplay, and do a few events here and there. The dance ROCKS.
Kumoricon Vancouver WA (Early September)
The smallest con I've gone to, but the best if you want a more family atmosphere, very nice people, cute little events and the cheapest trip. I suggest it if you wanna meet cool new people out of your area.

Ok...
I've been to two so far...^^
ANIMECON -> this event is just perfect!!! I love there, there are a lot of small shops, so we can buy anime stuffs, japanese food, cosplay contest, karaoke contest, bands shows, once you are on this event, you dont want to go back home... XD That's how i feel when im there... hehehehehe... it happens normally at July, 3 days of duration...also there are video-game contests....
and a amazing pump contest.. ^^ I have the gallery of some cosplays of there... here's the link :
http://www.alluria.com.br/fotos/thumbnails.php?album=2
Here's a nice slide show of the event:
http://alluria.com.br/fotos/displayimag ... eshow=5000
(its pretty good!)
I got a pic of a perfect Hughes last year.. he was even with a pic of Elysia... hauhauahuahua... it was pretty funny, i was adjusting my cam to take a pic of him, so he said "That's my daughter!" and showed me the pic.. XXDD
And one important thing: if you're not going to do a cosplay, wear black. XD
And the place where it's done is just.. wonderful! Its a big school, very beautiful, by the way... ^^
This event is just fantastic!
ANIMEDREAMS -> its a good event to go when you are getting crazy without a big event like Animecon. It isnt thaaat good, but it isnt thaaaat small too. Its a good size. It also has shops, food and somethings more, like, this year, there was a awesome taiko workshop! I went there! ^^v There was paintball, but i didnt go because it was raining. But there's a bad point in this event. It doesnt' have much cosplays like there are on Animecon. I got sad about that, i really wanted to take some pics. It happens on January, on a college.
The bad point of this event is the fact that it's pretty far... XP I think it took me about 1 hour and a half to get there... =P
This is a really great event too.. but im more an Animecon's fan!!!! hehehehehe
Well... actually, both events are perfect... but i prefer Animecon!!!!

Animecon seems cool, and it seems a lot more like a group convention, Sakura-con and Anime Expo are very much a "you stick with your group and have fun with them" kinda thing. But this con looks like everyone is a friend of a friend. Maybe when my income goes up someday I'll go

I went to Kunicon and NDK as well as Anime Expo. NDK was by far the best. 3 years back TMR was there. It was fantastic. Anime Expo was boring, guess its cause im so used to the activities at NDK.

Pulp Expo [www.pulpexpo.com] is next month. It's only partially anime related, of course. Hmm, I've been way too many times now, but finally this year I can drag someone along. Yay.

I remember going to the Adam's Mark Hotel in Texas for an anime convention (for the first time after my mom found out about it).I didn't get to dress up as an anime character, but I will dress up next time when there's going to be another one in the state that I moved into.

There's the Tekkoshocon in Pittsburgh PA coming up in April.
The big one is the Otakon mid July this year.
