The Winter Festival of Ash

At one time in the distant past of a world similar to Earth, a super volcano erupted, and killed over half of that world's population. Slowly the people who were left came together to create new cities using what technology wasn't destroyed, and future generations continued to recover the technology and knowledge their ancestors had forgotten.

But there were many lives lost to the volcano, which now lies once again dorment beneath the planet's crust. The hole left by it has been filled in with ground water over the years, and the sea in the middle of the continent only serves as a reminder of what happened.

There are many cities around the lake, and one city in the center on a man made island. Every winter since the eruption, people have gathered on that island in the middle of the lake for rememberance of the ancestors they lost. But they also gather for the joy of the progress they have made since.

The joy this past year was lost though, as an underground gang surfaced. For it was only the decsendants of the normal people that made it above land. There was some radiation leaked, and some people mutated. As generations continued, the mutations became more refined to where they could almost pass for an abovegrounder. The Undergrounders wanted to live under the sun too, but they were shunned, and forced to live outside in the wilderness, building their own lives with what they could steal from the cities.

The revolt of the Undergrounders was led by an abovegrounder who realized this unfair treatment. After the Festival, cities, families, friends, and even nations were divided until the next Festival, which was due to happen in only a week...

Everyone was making preparations... but for what? War or Peace?

Rules:
No Godmodding. That's it.

Characters can be either a mutant or a normal human, and either an abovegrounder or an undergrounder.

Mutants: fit into one of three categories. They cannot be intermixed, but there is a special category. You must PM me to ask if you can be in the fourth.

Body: part of their body is mutated, or can be changed at will. ((I.E. they can change their arm at the cellular level.))

Blood: they are similar, but not exactly like, a fantasy race. ((I.E. someone with bat wings and fangs might be called a vampire. Or someone who can turn into a wolf.))

Mind: They had especially strong psychic powers not found in normal humans. ((I.E. A telepath that can read people's minds exceptionally well. Or someone who can move objects in many different ways.))

Special: Also called the Soul category, these are the Undergrounders that can pass for abovegrounders especially well. They may have had ancestors who were above grounders. The Souls may have traits from one or two of the Mind, Blood, or Body, and can control them without extra training. Unfortunately, heavy usage may take a toll on them, and they can become sick relatively easily. REMEMBER! IF YOU WANT TO BE A SOUL, YOU HAVE TO PM ME!

Bio: Her parents died when she and her twin brother were young, and so, because she would sometimes get sick, he raised her and took care of her. They were very close until he revealed his gang's plans to her, and she decided she didn't want to be a part of it. They still live together, but he's almost never home anymore because of the preparations for the coming Festival.
She has a mixture of Blood and Mind powers. She is very good at telling what a person's emotions are, making her a strong empath, and she can also change her form into that of a black cat.
She often sneaks out of their little village in the hills to go into the cities. She's never been caught doing it.
