Any and all opinions on the band.
Personal Favorites?
Dislikes?
Albums?
Sounds like?
My thoughts:
I love Slipknot as a band..don't quite like the masks, personally, but I know they are for a good reason so it's well worth it. Music is very good. I like a lot of the heavier metal songs though.

I like allot of Slipknot songs, I think their masks are awesome, but Mudvayne masks are better especially the guy who wears mostly read and black. I like the songs Eyeless, Scream, Spit it out, **** it all, Liberate, People = ****, The Blister Exists, before I forgot, go to hell, Black heart, Wait and bleed and Duality.

I love Slipknot. Corey Taylor is a God walking amongst mere mortals. Everyone seems to think they sold out, but I think they still got it in 'em. Vol 3. wasn't the best album, but it certainly wasn't a bad album. I look forward to their next release.

I found myself liking them, infact I went on a slipknot binge for quite awhile.
There nu-metal, theirs is no two ways about it, but I still found myself drawn to it and finding it very fun to listen to.

Apparently Slipknot stole the whole mask idea from Mushroomhead.
Unbeknownst to me, there's been a big feud between both bands for a long time now. Mushroomhead once came out on stage in Slipknot masks to make fun of them, and when they came to Iowa they were forced offstage by crazed Slipknot fans throwing stuff at 'em.
Mushroomhead has some great music, but Slipknot would tear them apart.

Mudvayne is alright. Sorta a mixed bag with them. Probably my favorite song from them is Happy?
But such is the case with many bands, Slipknot would tear them apart too

Mudvayne\'s vocalist...just doesn\'t really appeal to me.

I do love myself the Mudvayne songs but unfortunately Mudvayne's lead singer decided to start a new band called Hellyeah. It's very good.
My dad says that the only reason Slipknot uses the mask idea is so that they don't get the daily dosage of humiliation and fan mosh pit surrounding them 24-7. So they can live normal lives.
I would start crap if another band wanted to use masks as well. If I had a band, got rich and popular, I would use masks too.

Most people give \'em crap for using masks, but it\'s like you said, it\'s so they can all live everyday lives. Corey said they all still enjoy going to shows, whether local or mainstream, and don\'t want to be bothered. \'Course, it\'s no huge secret, there\'s pictures of all the members online, and Corey is the frontman for Stone Sour, minus the mask.
Of course, I doubt that ANY metal band would be really recognized in public. I have yet to see any pretty-boy vocalists that would merit any airtime because of appearances. Most of \'em look pretty similar...Long hair and beards.

They don’t wear the masks to disguise themselves from the public, I have seen dozens of pictures of all of them without there masks. Their masks are merely a part of the slipknot experience.

Disguise seems like a dirty word. I was thinking more along the lines of...concealment of identity, even though it sounds comicbook-esque.
Upon further inspect though, it does seem as though Corey did label the masks as part of the Slipknot experience and as a way to get the band more into character. However, I do remember reading an older article where he does say it\'s a way for them to keep going to shows. However, I seem to be having trouble finding that article, so no credentials for the time being

I was thinking that the masks could for both reasons for hiding what they look like and for the bands appearance.
Oh yeah I listened to the Band Hellyeah.
