Art/Design Help!

Well, since I see all these official threads starting, I thought I might as well make one.

If anyone needs help with anything art related, whether it be art history, color theory, production, corporate design, typography, logo creation, or even help with Adobe products, I might be able to lend a hand. I have experience with Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, multiple versions (The most current being CS3).

I would also be willing to look over anyones design work and offer some guidance. I say design work, and not indiviual art pieces, because I specialize in Graphic Design. I've been in the field for over 4 years now and have even been a portfolio advisor for a student.

While I have had classes dealing with painting/sketches/portraits/etc., they're really not my forte, but I may be able to give limited help.

If you would like to see some of my work, I have an older PDF Portfolio of mine that you can download and look at some of my work. I'll upload some more recent work of mine in the future, when I'm back on my desktop.

When you say design does that include designing poetry and other writing stuff, or specific art design?

{edit} Here is my blog from myspace that I'll update with my creative pieces from time to time:

Well, it depends on what you mean with Poetry.

I've taken 2 classes dealing with typography and can help make a piece that is design-saavy and works well with the mood of the poem, but as for the actual writing aspect, I might not be of the greatest assistance :P

If you're talking about going a step further with your potry or writing, and are interested in displaying it as a visual art piece on top of the written aspect, I could help with necessary font choices (Decorative, Sans Serif, Script, etc.), layout, type treatment, and everything else.

ah well, I just wanted to clarify what you meant by design. If you like I can try and help out with the writing aspect of design and the painting and stuff.

I need all the help I can get with body copy and you pen-and-paper jockies. You can take care of that party if you'd like :D

Give me an iMac and Adobe Creative Suite and I'm happy. I like sketching, but only Illustator and Photoshop can really work the wonders.

Ok, I shall do my best. I'm good with poetry, story writing (I'm ok with), drawing/painting. I'm ok with all the computer design stuff as well seeing as my course is pretty much computer design but I bet you're way better so yeah XD

I added a PDF portfolio link for anyone who wants to check out some of my work, and see specifically what it is that I can help with.

If ya wanna see it, click the link, enter in the code, wait the 45 seconds (or whatever the waiting period is) and click download. You'll also need Adobe Reader, which most computers are already outfitted with.

Well, it depends on what program you're using for the coloring. If you're using programs like Photoshop or GIMP, coloring is as easy as choosing a hard-tipped brush, zooming in for accuracy, and utilizing the dodge an burn tools for the shades, tins and tones.

If you're trying to do the coloring in MS Paint, or similar freeware, it might prove to be a lot harder than it actually is. I never really looked into free alternatives to Photoshop, but I'm sure there are some good ones out there. I'll have to do some checking.

I used Photoshop, but I'm useless on that thing. I wish I has Paint still, cause I found that easy. Well, in my drawings topic (link in sig) I did one picture on paint and I think it turned out well. I am photoshop dyslexic me thinks (O_o)

Do you know the basics of Photoshop? What exactly did you have trouble grasping? As long as you aren't toying with any effecs or blurs, coloring a picture is ridiculously easy when you get the hang of it. Probably the hardest part is learning to resize your brush on the fly.

Also, are you using a Mac or a PC?

PC. I tried to shade it n stuff. then blur the shaded edges so they merged in with the lighter colours.....it looked so bad :S I was told you need to do it with layers n stuff
