Ritsu was born with the curse of the sign of the monkey. As far back as he could remember, his parents always had to apologize for everything he did, so he is very unsure of himself. He feels that every day, he is robbing the world of its air by breathing.
He found that it always made him feel more comfortable to dress like a girl, but that only gave his parents even more to apologize for. Since he looks so much like a girl, that's what Tohru thought when she first saw him, until he accidently transformed. Somehow, Tohru convinced him that he does have a reason to live, he just hasn't found it yet.

i feel sorry for ritsu-san, he's the opposite of ayame-san and he admires him. but ritsu annoys me when he flies off the handle ^_^

Ritsu is very nice, he just needs some more self-confidence. I like him a lot (top 5 guys: Hatori, Akito, Yuki, Ritsu, & Hatsuharu). What makes me pity him is his past, and he doesn't really have to apologize all the time.

He was first interested in wearing dresses by Kagura, why he wore it, I don't know. After his curse was lifted, he cut his hair and gave his kimonos to Kagura, and it seems as if he was seeing Mitsura (?) Shigure's suicidal editor (lol)
