Character Profile: Togusa

Togusa is the "ordinary Joe" of Section 9. He has a clean record, a good reputation, and a family. He was hand-picked by Kusanagi herself specifically because he's an honest cop, and more importantly for his lack of connections to cybernetics. His only concession to Section 9's unique nature is a network implant. He can communicate with the others in Section 9 as well as access Section 9 resources if needed, but that's all. He provides a much-needed alternative perspective in an overly specialized bureau.

Togusa has a little hangup. He doesn't like automatic handguns: more specifically, them jamming. His favorite gun and personal sidearm is a Mateba M207 revolver (pronounced "Mataver" in the anime). Kusanagi has to order him to use an automatic to make him use one.

When Section 6 makes its attempt to sneak into Section 9 to steal the Puppet Master, Togusa notices something amiss with the situation, and after a little delving is able to warn Kusanagi of the attempt, enabling everyone to get ready for her plan to uncover the plot.
