Anime Description: Gunparade March
This story takes place in an alternate reality. Suppose that towards the end of World War II in the Pacific, an alien race called the Genjuu suddenly descended upon the war-torn Earth to take it over. Suddenly, the world has a much bigger thing to worry about than simple matters over pride and land. These aliens are out to wipe out the human race!
With this in mind, fast forward to 1999, the brink of the 21st century. At this point, things are looking grim. Humans have developed HWTs, Humanoid Walking Tanks, to combat the Genjuu invaders, but most of their pilots have been killed in the course of the war. It's reached the point where high school students are being called upon to pilot the HWTs in defense of humanity.
Based on Sony's popular PlayStation 2 game Takidou Gensou Gunparade March, Gunparade March is the story of the 5121st Platoon (a class of high school students), led by Atsushi Hayami. They've just received a girl named Mai Shibamura to swell their ranks, little realizing that there is quite a story behind this little girl.
