Kana is Laura's very best friend who met her in a bookstore the day Laura moved to Tokyo. Kana owns a chubby grey and white hamster named Oxnard and loves to draw pictures of him. Kana is a very good artist for her age and is in the fourth grade, and is in Laura's class.
