Character Description: Kikyo
Kikyou is a priestess from the Warring States Era. She is a very powerful Miko with incredible archery skills. She once guarded the Shikon no Tama and maintained its purity. Demons from all over tried to steal the jewel from her, but she killed them all. Until one day, a half-demon named Inuyasha tried to take it from her in order to become a full demon. She refused to kill him because he was half-human. So instead, he followed her around, and before anyone knew it, they had fallen in love.
Kikyou was blessed with supernatural powers and therefore, could not live the life of a normal woman. She constantly held responsibility, taking care of everyone, and guarding the jewel. So, she and Inuyasha decided one day that he'd use the jewel to become human, and therefore the Shikon would disappear and Kikyou will be free of her powers, and could live the life of a normal woman, allowing she and InuYasha to finally be together.
But things did NOT go as planned. An evil, shape-shifting demon named Naraku took on the form of InuYasha. He approached Kikyou and struck her down. Of course Kikyou didn't know that it wasn't really InuYasha, so she died hating him for "betraying" her. Then Naraku convinced the REAL InuYasha to break into Kikyou's village and steal the Shikon Jewel. Kikyou, bloodied and bruised, caught up with InuYasha, and with her last ounce of strength, she used her Enchanted Arrow to "kill" him, and she told her younger sister, Kaede, to burn the Shikon with her body.
Obviously, InuYasha was not killed. Rather, he was sealed to the Tree of Time with an arrow which put him in a death-like state, while still preserving his body and soul.
Fifty years later, Kikyou's ashes were stolen from Kaede's shrine, and a witch resurrected her in order to steal the undead Miko's powers. Kikyou saw InuYasha and she tried to kill him, thinking he betrayed her fifty years ago. She eventually learns the truth about her death, and now she's after Naraku.
Note: When Inuyasha is released from the tree, Kaede tells him that he's been asleep for 50 years. Inuyasha then says "That must mean Kikyo's pushing 100", which would imply that Kikyo was over 50 years old when she died. Obviously this is meant as an insult, and not to be taken literally.
I'm told Kikyou's name means "Chinese Bellflower" in Japanese.

In #147 "The tragic love song of destiny" It showed how Kikyo and Inuyasha met. It starts off with Kikyo and her little sister Kaede talking to some woman I honestly don't know her name anyways after they talked the woman put a curse on Kikyo. If Kikyo would ever fall in love with somebody she would die. After that Kikyo and her little sister Kaede went home. When almost nightfall Inuyasha was around just minding his own business when Kikyo had just defeated a demon that's when Inuyasha smelled blood so he ran off to see what had happened. He was in the tree high above watching but Kikyo knew he was there that's when Kikyo was leaving the village that's when Inuyasha was watching her. On that exact night he turned into a human. Before all of this Kikyo was asked to purify the sacred jewel a few men got out of Mistress centipede. Later on after Kikyo asks him about the sacred jewel and He said "no never heard of it Kikyo started to leave when she fell. In #124 of Inuyasha Naraku reappears with a new body because he got reborn. They are at a place called Mt Hakurei. They knew Naraku was their because they sensed his aura. All along Inuyasha thought Naraku was after him but what turns out Naraku was after Kikyo to take her life. At the end Inuyasha saw Kikyo's broken bow which Naraku broke and he knew what had happend to Kikyo Naraku killed her. He knew because he saw visions of Kikyo while she was face to face with Naraku him self. He used his claws in his hand to kill her. Since hes got a new body now its a lot different. When Inuyasha found out what had happened he was crushed he blamed him self of Kikyos death.....he shouldn't blame him self its not his fault. Poor Kikyo I will miss her >.< ... show more »

FOr the people who say she tried to kill inuyasha she had a damn good reason
She just got back on the land of the living thinking inuyasha betrayed her so what the hell is she gonna know about the damn truth dumbasses. She didnt know naraku actually made them hate each other so when she comes back to life she wants to kill inuyasha for what she did(since she DIDNT KNOW)
