Kouga is the leader of the Wolf Clan. He has super speed due to the Shikon Jewel shards he has in his legs. Kouga fell in love with Kagome, and always quarrels with InuYasha because of this.
Kouga was originally a bad guy. His wolves (not Ginta and Hakkaku) killed Rin (before Sesshoumaru restored her). Because of his love of Kagome, who is a human, he turned into a good demon, and helps InuYasha and his group in their quest for Naraku.
He got accidentally engaged to Ayame, a wolf demon from the mountains, when he saved her as a child and promised her marriage to keep up her spirits. Ayame is now grown and is holding Kouga to his promise.
I'm told Koga's name means "steel fang" in Japanese.
I was told that Koga states his age in the series, but then I was told by someone else that he does not. Perhaps this differs between the US and Japanese versions. If you know precisely where he states his age, please contact me.

Koga is so sexy. It may have something to do with he is a wolf demon&all the wolves(i <3 wolves)but he is still so sexy.....;) wait 4 me Koga!!!

Koga appears 15, as said in an interview with Rumiko Takahashi, question number 12 on the Inuyasha companion(Google inuyasha companion), under miscellaneous, under FAQ, which is by all means accurate do to direct quotations and videotaped interviews with Rumiko Takahashi. Now it can be argued, that because he is a demon, he may not look his age, but you should nonetheless put up that age rather than a statement from someone about an "unknown" or unstated episode that may or may not be true.
Now true, I certainly have never met a 15 looking year old with that kind of musculature, but Koga's likely had plenty of experience building up his strength in scraps with his clanmates.

His buddies are named Ginta and Hakaku, while I have no idea how their names are written in Japanese, I know that Gin 銀 means silver.
