GIR is Zim's SIR unit. He was made out of old robot parts by Tallest Red and Tallest Purple. The only thing he has for a brain is a paper clip, a pink marble, and two irken coins. He has a dog costume he wears for a disguise. Later in the series he gets a badly made human brother costume.
