Kirby, a Warpstar knight in training, crash-lands on the planet Popstar and accidently ends up as the pink protector of the village. His most amazing ability is to inhale his enemies' powers and give them a taste of their own medicine.
Kirby was seemingly originally created by an evil void-like monster named N.M.E to conquer and destroy planets. Fortunately, Kirby betrayed him, so he threw Kirby into space and erased all of Kirby's knowledge and memory. (I don't know how Kirby got into a Warpstar-ship though). Fortunately, N.M.E forgot to erase Kirby's powers and abilities, so now Kirby is ready to defend Popstar from everything.
Or at least this is what Tiff believes. It may, however, not be the case. As in one episode where Meta Knight reveals some information to Tiff, a scene is shown where NME is holding a ball-like object. This ball, however, is blue and holding a sword, which could actually be Meta Knight himself.
Supposedly, Kirby's ship went to Dreamland because his ship detected a monster on the planet. Kirby was meant to awaken when he was 200 years old, but he woke up too early and is only a baby. The only word he can say is "poyo", but he can copy what other people say sometimes. (only names, so far)
