Majin Tantei Nogami Neuro is about a man named Neuro Nogami that is the greatest detective in all of the Underworld. But, he gets bored when he has devoured all of the mysteries down there, so he comes to the Earth to devour all of the mysteries here.
He meets a high school student, named Yako Katsuragi, who became a detective after her dad's suspected suicide. She joins Neuro to figure out the truth about her father, and solve mysteries together.
I wouldn't call this an action anime, but I'd rate it PG-13 for language.

I think it's weird though that Sasazuka doesn't realise there's something abnormal with Neuro, and doesn't investigate it

This is a great anime! My only regrets being that it finished after so few cases.
It's very original, and all the characters were cool. It's different from Detective Conan in the sense that the supernatural is always present here and it's very easy to guess who the criminal is most of the time, which can kill the mystery sometimes.
The police officer Sasazuka is really cool, doing his job as it ought to be done (He reminds me strongly of Genda in 'Till Death do us part'), and it was a good idea to have Godai being a former Mafia gangster so that he had contacts. I don't understand Higuchi's reaction on having his resignation refused though :S . I also hated Sai, as it was so disgusting what he did with the bodies, and there was absolutely no need for him to do such a thing. I am pretty sure he must be Yako's half brother, but that isn't mentioned.
It is cool that Yako did not have any romantic interest in anyone, since most animes now must have the heroine liking someone else.
The ending was very well done; It's great that Neuro did come back after sealing hell's door! There is room for a sequel, though I'd say it's unnecessary. ... show more »
