Character Description: Gaito
Gaito is the antagonist in Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch. He rules the Dark Lovers, but is secretly ruled by Sara. He also has followers known as the Black Beauty SistersMimi and Sheshe. All of his minions seem to believe he is irresistible and are in love with him.
Kaito is Gaito's twin brother. He was tossed on the shores to live a good life as an infant, while Gaito was forced to live a life of solitude. He wanted revenge on the mermaids for sealing his family away for tens of thousands of years while releasing Kaito. He also wanted to collect the powers of the seas for his beloved Sara. This leads Gaito to capture the mermaid princesses, to take their pearls and awaken Aqua Regina, the sea goddess.
Gaito is known as Gackto in the manga because Pink Hanamori wanted some relation formed between him and Gackt, a Japanese singer. In the anime, his name was changed to Gaito to compare differences for the media.
