Tima, though slightly light-headed, is the air to the throne, and was created specifically for that purpose by Dr. Laughton.
There is a lab fire, which she surprisingly survives, and then meets up with Ken-ichi. At the end of the film, she dies, and destroys most of Metropolis when she finally merges with the throne. The only thing left of her are a few circuits, her shoes, and her voice.
At the very end of the movie, you come to a radio, under the piles and piles of ruble, and then the radio switches on and you here her voice say "I am who".
