Katie Minami is just an ordinary eighth grader who is really shy with boys. One day, while going home from school, she goes into a shop and buys a blue mug with a star. At home, she peeked into the bottom of the mug and saw a note that said, "If you say a wish while pouring hot cocoa into this mug, a muglox will appear and grant your every love wish."

Katie curiously follows the directions and sure enough, a chocolate-loving muglox named Mirmo pops out of the mug!!! Katie was horrified and thought he was a little monster!!! She finally got to know Mirmo, they became friends, and their adventures started!
