Moomin is an anime created by both Japanese and European companies, based on a series of children's books by Finnish author Tove Jansson. Although there have been several TV adaptations of the books, the anime version is the most recognized.
It mainly tells us about the adventures of Moomintroll, a young Moomin who lives with his parents, Moominmamma and Moominpappa. Together with his friends, Sniff, Snufkin, Little My and Snork Maiden, Moomintroll spends most of his days exploring Moomin Valley, uncovering hidden truths and meeting unusual beings and mysterious spirits.

My very first VHS tape was some kind of Moomin "christmas special" episode. I got it when I was 2 years old, in 1993...

When I was at pre-primary level, my Mum used to tape all the Moomin episodes in French and show it to my siblings and myself. It was a great time. My favourite characters are Pipo(the character in the green outfit), Sniff(the kangaroo), 'Jolie Mie'(at least that's how her name was pronounced! She's the annoying little girl in the red outfit who's got a big sister), and Trois Pommes(That's the character who fishes in winter; He's got a striped shirt). The names I've given are in French. Certain episodes frightened me though(at that age!), e.g. La Dame du Lac, where all the male Moomin were drawn to the beautiful young lady. I remember being really happy that Pipo was not drawn to her!(I had judged him correctly!) ... show more »

I love the Moomins! I've got all the episodes on DVD. My fave character is Sniff, he's awesome! :D
