Character Description: Kuina
Kuina was the childhood friend of Zolo, and the reason Zolo wants to become the world's best swordsman. Tashigi bears a close resemblance to Kuina, although not related.
Zolo met Kuina when he was 11 and she was 13. When Zolo was 12 she was 14. After their 2001 battle, and Kuina's 2001 victory, they both revealed that they had the same dream, to become the world's best swordsman. Then Kuina started to cry and stated she could never become the best because she was a woman.
Zolo was furious and said that it didn't matter what gender you were, what mattered was your skill at the swords. Later that night Kuina lost her footing going down stairs to get a sharpening block, tripped, and died (in the 4Kids dub, she was only seriously injured).

Why did she have the sharping block anyway those things can really kill you but that's probably how she died.
