Ryoji Fujioka is better known as 'Ranka' at the okama (cross dressing) bar he works at. He worries for his daughter constantly, and is always buying girly clothing and dresses for her in an attempt to make her more girlish herself.
Though Ryoji wants to be a larger part of Haruhi's life, his daughter's stubborn resolve keeps him at arm's length as she tried to help him take care of himself, as shown in a flashback in one episode.
There's an eerie similarity between Ryoji and Tamaki, whom he thinks of as an 'enemy' after finding him and Haruhi in an uncomfortable position.
