Isabella is just your regular guy who wishes he was a girl and loves making patterns. He is also very good at making low-calorie meals and seems very fond of cooking. His family is very rich, but they seem to be ashamed of how he's turned out. (This is only hinted at, but never directly said.)

Isabella is very close to George (Johji) because they have been friends since they were about six. It was George who helped Isabella to become comfortable with wanting to be a girl and wearing women's clothing.

One day in spring (when they were little) Isabella told George he didn't feel right as a boy. A few days later George came back with a present saying "Happy Birthday Miss Yamamoto." Isabella was confused (because his birthday was in winter and it was spring). The present was a cute dress and hat. Ever since then Isabella has always celebrated his birthday in spring.

Isabella is the "mother" figure for Paradise Kiss and especially to Yukari Hayasaka. At the end of the manga series, Isabella and George leave for France where Isabella states he is going to "live on love" and make patterns for George until he (Isabella or George) dies and then "forever and ever".
