With attacks like Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, and Poison Powder, a Tangela can put any Pokémon out of action. Once you figure out where some Tangela nest, you must try and try patiently to finally find one; but once you do, Tangela is definitely not a waste of Pokéballs.
In episode 26 (Tangela's first appearance), Bulbasaur grabbed Tangela, but then it escaped and used Stun Spore to paralyze Bulbasaur and knock it out.
