Ryoga is Ryoma Echizen's 18 year old adopted brother who is a pure right-handed tennis player. He knows a lot of Nanjiro Echizen's moves and uses then against Ryoma.
Ryoma, however, beats Ryoga in the Prince Of Tennis movie. He steals all of Ryoma's oranges when younger. Ryoga is a bit of a show off and a ladies man. But is very good at tennis.

Ryoga isn't ONLY adopted --he's the bastard son of Echizen Nanjiroh. He came to live with the Echizens in America when Ryoma was five, so that would make Ryoga about eleven. He learned tennis from Nanjiroh, and then when he started high school he abruptly ran away or returned back to live with his mother. The reason and exact time of his departure from the Echizen family is unknown, but it would be a few years before Ryoma moved back to Japan to attend Seishun.
