Character Description: Forest Spirit
The forest spirit is an ancient god, with the ability to give and take life from a god, demon, or human. When he is first seen healing Ashitaka, when ever he walks, plants instantly come to life, but when he takes a new step, the plants wither and die as quickly as they came.
During the day, the spirit resembles a deer-like creature with many antlers and the face of a baboon. During the night, however, the spirit becomes the Nightwalker, a god resembling a human made out of stars with a long pointed face and tentacle-like spikes on the back. When the spirit becomes a demon after Eboshi shoots off his head, he becomes a god of death which resembles a large humanoid made from a dark tar-like liquid.
In the end, when he gets his head back, he 'dies', but rejuvenates the forest, and gives it 'life' again. Also, when he 'dies', he lifts Ashitaka's curse from him.
