Shinsaku Kido is the coach for the baseball team. He used to be Hidehiko Hayakawa's catcher and best friend back before Hidehiko passed away.

Shinsaku has a drinking problem, and in the mornings he always has a headache due to his drinking.

Ryo Hayakawa gets mad at her coach for obvious reasons, like when he wouldn't go with her to Kochi to get a certain center fielder with a certain Wave Motion Swing by the name of Koharu Hotta.
