Lirin is Kougaiji's younger half-sister. She acts like a female Goku, she's always hungry and she loves to hang around Sanzo. She feuds with Goku anytime they come across each other. She always trust and listens to her older half-brother Kougaiji. Dokugakuiji and Yaone are like baby sitters to Lirin.
Lirin always finds a way to get away from Yaone, who is supposed to protect her.
Note: Even though Lirin and Goku fight like cats and dogs, she really has a crush on Sanzo. And Sanzo doesn't yell at her as much as he yells at Goku.

Personally, I like the pairings hinted in the show. Not to mention, there's been quite a few instances that counter the idea that the Sanzo party's gay. 1. Hakkai and Kannon. 2. Lirin is my favorite character ever. She is very cute and pretty but Lirin is very funny. She loves meat buns and fighting with Goku. Lirin loves sitting on Sanzo shoulders and playing with him too.

I love Saiyuki! All the guys are so handsome! I wish all of them would fall in love:) with me;). I think Sanzo and Goku are my favorites but I'm not sure cause I like Gojyo and Hakkai a lot too....and all the demons:/ So idk.....

I did not know Lirin has a crush on Sanzo but he is a little nicer to her then he is to Goku. If Sanzo and Lirin do go on a date it would be so cute. Lirin is like Goku alot it so cute.
