Character Description: Takeo Tsurumaru
Takeo is the mysterious friend and roommate of Norio, who helps out Shiina and Akira on many occasions. Norio is often concerned that Takeo doesn't know where is responsibilities lie. While he himself does not control a shadow dragon, Norio does and it follows Takeo around many times.
Shiina first sees Takeo on her way home on Mr. Suzuki's airplane - he and Norio are the two mysterious passengers in the back of the plane. Later, when Shiina arrives home, she locates Takeo again and chases him down with Akira because she believes he knows something about their shadow dragons. This is when he and Norio actually introduce themselves.
Despite his tough appearance, Takeo is a very kind and helpful person, especially towards girls. He always helps Akira and Shiina when they are sick or tired, and though they are younger than him by 5 to 7 years, he still flirts with them and makes romantic jokes. The first time he met Akira, he thought she was his "secret admirer"!
Shiina and Akira aren't the only ladies Takeo is quite friendly with. Through the course of the anime, it is revealed that though he is unmarried, he has five illegitimate children and three more women pregnant.
